Pianist, composer and theoretician Ethan Iverson is considered one of the most significant jazz pianists of his generation. For almost two decades now, he has been playing intelligent music for the masses with bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King as The Bad Plus. The democratically led avant-garde jazz trio successfully pulls off a balancing act between Stravinsky’s Le sacre du printemps and grunge songs from Nirvana. In his solo work, Ethan Iverson also explores a wide range of genres, though he tends to concentrate less here on Kurt Cobain and more on pianists like Ahmad Jamal or James P. Johnson. At moers festival, Ethan Iverson will present an exclusive solo concert at City Hall.
