Snuff Puppets (AU)

Snuff Puppets is a group of Australian puppeteers that slip into giant figures. The hand-made puppets made of cane, fabric and glue, develop lives of their own through their invisible masters and enter into interaction with the members of the audience. For 25 years now, the Snuff Puppets from Melbourne have been circling the entire globe with their spectacle of outsized characters.

In the current program, under the title Human Body Parts, larger-than-life models of the eye, ear, mouth, nose, hand and foot roam free of their usual attachments and suddenly appear to us in a new light: a foot blocks the way, a hand gives indiscernible signals, the eye winks at every single passer-by at the same time. This humorous encounter with the human body celebrates the commonalities all people share.

The figures of the Human Body Parts series will be out and about in Moers throughout Whitsuntide weekend in the pedestrian zone and on the way downtown from the festival hall.
