Irreversible Entanglements (US)

Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother) proclaims her lyrics with a voice that ranges from imploringly haunting to fiercely defiant. Her subjects: black identity, feminism, police violence. The radical vocalist refers to herself as an Afrofuturist – her work is often approached using descriptors like protest music or hardcore poetry. The musical foundation for her texts is made up of an inextricable web of elaborate compositions and improvisations woven by her compatriots on alto sax, trumpet, bass and drums.
