DISCUSSIONS In fairy tales, people trick, seduce, and fish in troubled waters; order begins to waver, and a trial lurks behind every hedge and within every forest. Step out from your pages and head to moers! discussions! are not soothing bedtime stories, but rather an invitation to joyful "thinking-differently." They are an attempt to recognise the patterns behind the narratives and to uncover the hidden forces shaping our time. FREYSINN As if by magic, the musicians of the festival gather here. And that magic wand is none other than themselves! Far from the planned stages, new constellations form—groups that have never existed before, but might soon be heard again. The music curates itself in the very moment of the encounter, giving free rein to the magic of the unplanned. Step into the "Röhre" and watch as professionals from all over the world tune their instruments to one another in entirely new ways. From Thursday to Sunday, musical daring awaits you there—and on Monday, the spirit of "Freysinn" boldly moves on to the Bicycle Stage. Are you ready for the unexpected?
FAHRRADBÜHNE (BICYCLE STAGE) Who has ever seen the likes of that? One moment it was right here, and then suddenly—it’s over there! True "moersys" will recognize it in a heartbeat. Close your eyes and wish with all your might, and Pirco’s Pop-Up Stage will appear between the trees. One moment a DJ set, the next a J.D. shred, then an impro gig, and then—HUI!—it’s already rolling away again.
MOERS SESSIONS An indispensable part of the Moers training camp for freer ways of thinking and living: unrepeatable, irretrievable, irresistible. Here, various musicians of the moers festival come together in new constellations to embark on brave sonic trips. Fine improvisation, unheard-of combinations, unpredictable new music, precious moments. For years, the moers sessions have been legendarily curated by Jan Klare. In 1972, the moers festival began in the castle courtyard—this year, the spirit of free jazz returns to that very spot.
PIANOMOBIL For years we have been on its trail: the mythic Pianomobil, the legendary "New Jazz" vehicle. Every now and then, we catch a fleeting glimpse of Peter’s Jazz Ride, but then it moves on with local expertise, and Peterkin takes all the musicians along on his journey. You won't find the Pianomobil darting through the Strait of Hormuz, for it is powered by music and applause. Well, and every once in a while, it recharges on the power of the bright sun. (We’ve been told it is recharged by Autohaus Rheims and fine-tuned by Piano Heringer.)
