My 82-year-old mother, Hildegard, has been telling me for many years: “Tim, life is change!” The moers festival has already changed its location five times in its 54-year history. Could there be a more fitting moment than the 55th festival anniversary to move the venue once again and return right to the heart of the city?
“And always expeditions,” Hanns Dieter Hüsch would probably have said … We are setting out on the next expedition and suspect that you surely have many questions about it. That’s why we are trying to provide a few answers here. Surely we will make mistakes again and may not have thought of everything – but improvisation is, after all, our shared strength … isn’t it? In any case, the moers festival has never shied away from change!
My mother and I warmly invite you to celebrate a truly magical change with us this Pentecost!

The moers festival is returning to the heart of Moers: A large open-air stage will take centre stage on Kastellplatz, surrounded by the festival village and the familiar venues you know (churches, the castle, the park, Peschkenhaus, or the district office).
moersify will be back too, with guerrilla concerts in the city centre and excursions to Bollwerk, the skate park, or Die Röhre. There will be loud spots, quiet spots, focused areas, and colourful mingling. Between the main programme blocks on the open-air stage, concerts from a variety of genres will run simultaneously in nearby, easily walkable venues – all indoors (except the castle courtyard, yes: New Jazz is finally back in the castle courtyard!).
What has always been essential for visiting the festival in Moers can – loosely following Loriot – be summed up as: Three things you need for Moers – ticket, rain protection, seat cushion.
And maybe a bit of openness, good mood, sunscreen … but read on first.

Presale for the 55th moers festival 2026 begins on 28 November 2025. Get your tickets here!
This information will also be available soon.
The ticketed area around the open-air stage on Kastellplatz offers more space for all of us. Bottlenecks like those in 2025 in the hall are now a thing of the past. Capacities in other venues are limited, and as with almost every festival: first come, first served! But watch out: Quiet heroes and I enjoy priority entry.
On the free children’s and creative meadow next to Moers Castle, there’s plenty of laughter, freedom, and joy: marvel, tumble, explore, juggle, honk, drum, dance, craft, rest …
Worst case: It rains! There are some covered areas around the open-air stage in the ticketed area, but of course you’ll have your rain protection ;-) If you forget it, our merchandise stand has some lovely rain accessories.
Of course: plenty of world premieres, unexpected collaborations, unheard-of happenings, wild kids, sessions, travelling guerrilla concerts, flying wings, new perspectives, heated discussions, escapism, and being together!
