What happens when two seasoned duos with identical instrumentation come together as one ensemble? How do their synapses connect - horizontally, diagonally, criss-crossing, is there added VALUE? Or do they not connect at all, but even blend into one? In the experiment Blending Contrasts, David Friedman (vib) & Drori Mondlak (dr) and Jim Hart (vib, mar) & Florian Arbenz (dr, perc) will create an idiophonic soundscape, where 4 sticks, 8 mallets, a dozen drums & cymbals, 49 wooden bars, 72 metal plates, and billions of neurons whirl, sweep, trill, paradiddle, stir, strike, pulsate and float. ...a dream-like experience.
