Rodelberg

Led by the French composer and pianist Eve Risser, the twelve piece Red Desert Orchestra fuses the customs of European orchestral sounds with the rhythms of West Africa without diminishing either tradition. By adding the sounds of balafons, djembes and bara from West Africa to her orchestra as well as sounds of synthesizers and electric guitar that are accented by arrangements of wood and brass, Risser creates an orchestral surge reviving the romanticism of legendary Sun Ra Arkestra. Risser’s lines and sounds weave in tireless hypnotic loops that lead the listener to a spiritual and nomadic experience, from which brilliant soloists emerge!
