PSSST! For many decades, the secret society "The Flattastic 6", lead by Capt’n Clare (and featuring Iron Barnett, Photonik Parvaresh, Rocket Wittbrodt, Helm Man and Fantômette Cabral), have battled the evil religio-contrapuntist Cardinal Francis Hengsbach – PEE-YEW! – and repeatedly freed – POW! – KIND from his sinister claws. That was nothing earth-shattering in and of itself – but sometimes the Flattastics took a sharp right where they should have hung a smooth left and arrived too late to save KIND, who was frequently kidnapped and subjected to horrific experimentation. CHURCH BELLS – NIGHTMARE – TIME LEAP! Since the – CRRAACK! – tearing down of the statue of the cardinal last year, all of a sudden KIND possesses the amazing ability to reproduce itself constantly – ever since, it has been caught in an aging-freeze. It produces duplicates uncontrollably – PLOPP! – alas, this process causes intense pain – AAAARRGH! "The Flattastic 6" does everything in its power to protect KIND's talent and potential. In this regard, the secret society's connections to Maria 2.0 and the mysterious Circle of Fifths prove useful, enabling them to foresee false relations, enharmonic modulations, pointless or deceptive cadences and even parallel fifths, before it's too late, to ensure the childhood well-being of KIND once and for all, against resurgent evil powers – at times collectively, at times anthemically, at times with the playfulness of a child themselves – almost the way ol' Henry Threadgill goes about his business, he who – so it is rumoured on the Lower Rhine – once sang out of tune back in the '70s with Hanns Dieter Heisenberg in the trendy pub "Die Röhre":
"…old CHILD come back home
The lamps are glowing – the day is done"
When KIND sleeps on stage at the world premiere, it bobs in and out of dreams of a white paper boat that pops up over and over, whose sales are adorned with a flashing neon slogan: "Hope and tenderness, tenderness and hope."
