FYEAR (CA)

FYEAR builds bridges between improvisation and composition, electronic and acoustic instrumentation, language and abstract vocalisation, combining strident pulse with an expansive sense of freedom. Their mixed-media compositions conjure up the urgency of restless moments while gazing towards the future. Together, the members of FYEAR engage us in an observation of our struggles, our fictions and our agency. 

Interwoven with the sounds of the ensemble are literary texts rooted in the diverse stories that shape the territory upon which we live. Poems are projected into the ensemble, entering into dialogue with the performance. The result is a maximalist, immersive experience, manifesting a world that expands to encompass the audience.
