It all began when Gordon Grdina, after many years of musical exploration, decided to gather a new ensemble. Thus RU’YA – “Vision” – was born. On their journey through soundscapes, jazz, classical Persian music, and Arabic maqams met and wove together into a living tapestry of tones. At its heart lies the idea of integration: each musician can express themselves freely while the group tells stories together. Inspired by Ghalia Benali’s belief that poets are the true chroniclers of humanity, music and poetry emerge to convey love, longing, trauma, and memory. RU’YA reveals that through awareness of our roots, we discover shared humanity, connection, and beauty.
