György Kurtág’s “Jelek, játékok és üzenetek” (“Signs, Games, and Messages”) is an ongoing cycle of short piano and chamber music pieces that the composer has been working on since the 1970s. The miniatures are highly condensed and often only a few bars long - musical gestures that seem like isolated thoughts, fragments of memory, or musical “phrases.”

In this concert, you will hear:

- for a Moment
- Hommage à Elliott Carter
I. Capriccio & II. Arioso
- ... A Letter from Afar to Ursula … for solo oboe

- Versetto (apocryphal organum)
- Rimma Dalos: Ljubov na meszjac (Homage to Tristan) for English horn and bass clarinet

In Nomine-all’ongherese
The Carenza Jig
... féerie d’automne… for solo violin

further pieces for solo cello and string duo
