In a nod to György Ligeti's opera Le Grand Macabre, which made him one of the most important composers in New Music, with le petit macabre a new arrangement of his works takes shape on the occasion of his 100th birthday, one which spans his entire creative career.

Under the direction of Lukas Döhler (composer kids/moerster class), the project brings together INprogRES, the student ensemble for contemporary music of Düsseldorf's Robert Schumann Conservatory, as well as the eleven-member festival ensemble "Bas-Rhin" to the left bank of the Lower Rhine. During the final rehearsal phase and grand finale concert, the adolescents and students will receive support from violinist eddy kwon (SUN HAN GUILD), pianist Ethan Iverson (Billy Hart Quartet) and saxophonist Silke Eberhard (Brother & Sisterhood). Together, in this intergenerational mix, le petit macabre will bravely approach György Ligeti's multi-faceted and influential music on their sailing-school ship.
