Ev. Stadtkirche Moers

Morton Feldman’s “Rothko Chapel” is a quiet, contemplative work for mixed choir, viola, celesta, and percussion. It was composed in close connection with the Rothko Chapel - an interfaith space for prayer characterized by Mark Rothko’s large-scale, dark color fields.

Like the space itself, the music feels stripped down and inward-looking: floating soundscapes, delicate gestures, and long periods of silence create a meditative atmosphere. Feldman translates the visual experience of the chapel into sound—time seems stretched out, and form recedes in favor of intense perception.

The Rheinstimmen Ensemble develops concert formats in which early and contemporary music engage in a lively dialogue. The internationally active singers have experience performing with ensembles such as Schola Heidelberg, Chorwerk Ruhr, and Les Arts Florissants, and perform in varying soloist configurations. The ensemble has performed at venues including the Cologne Opera and the Bavarian State Opera. The ensemble has received numerous awards and grants, most recently through the Ensembleförderung NRW (Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia).

Chroma Kollektiv consists of 12 musicians from 11 countries and was founded by the fellows of the 2024/2025 International Ensemble Modern Academy.
Individual members take the lead on various projects to express their own narrative identities. Chroma places particular emphasis on connecting with the audience to collectively explore the significance of contemporary music in society and enrich it through post-migrant perspectives.
