The Dwarfs of East Agouza (EGY / US / CAN)

Maurice Louca (elec) / Alan Bishop (voc, sax, g) / Sam Shalabi (e-git)

Bühne Kastellplatz

Beyond the wind-swept streets of Agouza, a mysterious district of Cairo, three wandering sound-makers lived in the same building in 2012: Maurice Louca, Sam Shalabi, and Alan Bishop. Together, they wove magical carpets of free jazz, krautrock, psychedelic grooves, and North African rhythms. Their mostly improvised pieces flowed like living rivers - hypnotic, raw, and trance-like - bridging ancient traditions and futuristic experiments. Those who listened could feel the music breaking through time and space, telling stories only the tones themselves knew.
