St. Josef

Yarn/Wire, an international ensemble for contemporary music, presents two new works. i tell you i want to be one sticking out of the ground like a tongue (2026) addresses Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Drawing on the personal experience of composer Jonah Haven, the piece explores daily life with illness and caregiving. Amplified everyday sounds and musical structures reflect routines, challenges, and the small moments of everyday life. In her 25-minute work Supraseether (2026), Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir views the quartet as an ensemble organism, exploring interdependence, transformation, and the interplay of sound, gesture, and resonance.

The concert is part of Yarn/Wire Currents, an ongoing commissioning series launched in 2013 that supports the creation of new works specifically for the ensemble. Musicians from around the world explore intersections of composition, technology, improvisation, and music theater. Premieres are released on the ensemble’s own label via Bandcamp and are available on YouTube.

Yarn/Wire’s season is made possible with the friendly support of the Ernst Von Siemens Music Foundation.
